π Homemade Pizza-Scented Play Dough Recipe
One of the things that made this activity extra special was the homemade pizza-scented play dough. The Italian seasoning gave it a realistic pizza-shop smell that encouraged imaginative play.
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup salt
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1β2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- Yellow food coloring
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients in a medium saucepan.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly.
- As the mixture cooks, it will begin to thicken and form a ball in the center of the pan.
- Once the dough pulls together, remove it from the heat.
- Transfer to a cutting board or work surface.
- Allow it to cool slightly.
- Knead until smooth and soft.
- If needed, add a little extra flour while kneading.
- Store in an airtight container until ready to play.
π‘ Mom Tip: While this dough is made with kitchen ingredients, it is intended for play, not eating. We don’t really want to encourage the kids to eat it. But it is made with ingredients from the kitchen, so I’ve never worried about a little one tasting a smidge. π
